Committee Chair
Organize the committee to see that all functions are delegated, coordinated, and completed. Maintain a close relationship with the chartered organization representative and the Scoutmaster. Interpret national and local policies to the troop. Prepare the troop committee meeting agendas. Call, preside over, and promote attendance at monthly troop committee meetings and any special meetings that may be called. Ensure troop representation at monthly roundtables. Secure top-notch, trained individuals for camp leadership. Arrange for charter review and recharter annually. Plan the charter presentation.
Scoutmaster Scoutmaster trained, see attached for more complete requirements.
Activity Shirts
Maintain a small inventory of activity shirts of various sizes for purchase by scouts and adults, reorder as necessary,
Advancement Chair Encourage Scouts to advance in rank. Work with the troop scribe to maintain all Scout advancement records. Arrange quarterly troop boards of review. Develop and maintain the Troop’s merit badge counselor list. Make a prompt report on the correct form to the council service center when a troop BOR is held. Secure badges and certificates. Work with the troop librarian to build and maintain a troop library of merit badge pamphlets and other advancement literature. Report to the troop committee at each meeting. Oversee troop Courts of Honor, working with the COH Coordinator and scouts.
Advancement Coach

Work with the scouts to help promote their advancement through the ranks, provide opportunities and support for scouts working on merit badges. Work with the PLC to create troop/group merit badge opportunities.
Adopt-a-Highway Coordinator
Schedule the three adopt a highway events, make sure that scouts & adults attending have viewed the video, signed permission slips & waiver, and follow safety rules during the event.
Chaplain Provide a spiritual tone for troop meetings and activities. Give guidance to the chaplain aide. Promote regular participation or each member in the activities of the religious organization of his choice. Visit homes of Scouts in time of sickness or need. Give spiritual counseling service when needed or requested. Encourage Boy Scouts to earn their appropriate religious emblems. Report to the troop committee at each meeting.
Charter Organization Representative
Attend all Committee Meetings, provide link between the Troop and St. Matthews, and with parish input develop ways in which the Troop can support St. Matthews. Is a member of the chartered organization. Serves as head of “Scouting department” in the organization. Secures a troop committee chair and encourages training. Maintains a close liaison with the troop committee chair. Helps recruit other adult leaders. Serves as liaison between your troop and your organization. Assists with unit rechartering. Encourages service to the organization. Is an active and involved member of the district committee.
Court of Honor Coordinator
Coordinate the four COH’s: work with Advancement Chair and scouts for COH's. If scouts are working to earn their Communication Merit Badge they are to do all of the work for that COH.
Cub Scout Liaison
Link between Pack 496 and the Troop, this includes attending Pack and Troop Committee Meetings. Determine Pack 495 needs for den chiefs, identify scouts who will be crossing over, identify new parents who may become adult leaders in the Troop, offer other opportunities for synergy between the Pack and Troop.
Fund Raising Chair
Supervise money-earning projects, including obtaining proper authorizations. It is not necessary to run all of the Troop’s fund raising events.
Fund Raising: SeptemberFest Coordinator
Work with Lou Malnoti’s on the Troop’s not for profit booth at Septemberfest, attend Septemberfest meetings as necessary, complete tour permits and other paperwork as needed, schedule work shifts for scouts and adults, and manage money as necessary.
High Adventure Coordinator
Schedule all high adventure outings, including shakedowns as needed, handle tour permits, ensure all scouts & leaders attending are informed and trained. Responsible for maintaining the High Adventure gear, including an inventory of its contents, publish inventory as necessary.
Membership Chair
Run the yearly registration of scouts and leaders, process memberships for crossover scouts, new leaders and new or transfer scouts as necessary, ensure that troop re-charter is processed on time.

Our troop’s liaison to Lakota Order of the Arrow.
Outings Coordinator
Schedule outings as recommended by the PLC, create permission slips, collect permission slips & provide monies to the treasurer, maintain scout & adult health forms, Help in securing permission to use camping sites. Serve as transportation coordinator. Ensure a monthly outdoor program. Promote the National Camping Award. Promote, through family meetings, attendance at troop campouts, camporees, and summer camp to reach the goal of an outing per month. Secure tour permits for all troop activities. Report to the troop committee at each meeting.
Photographer
Take pictures at scouting events and provide to webmaster. Obtain pictures scouting events from others, review content and provide to webmaster.
Quartermaster Advisor aka

Equipment Coordinator

Advise and assist the scout quartermaster (usually his parent). Supervise and help the troop procure camping equipment. Work with the quartermaster on inventory and proper storage and maintenance of all troop equipment, including the Troop’s trailer and its’ contents. Make periodic safety checks on all troop camping gear, and encourage troops in the safe use of all outdoor equipment. Report to the troop committee at each meeting. Maintain an inventory of the Troop’s equipment, publish as necessary.
Secretary
Keep minutes of meetings, maintain Troop Policy, and send out committee meeting notices. Handle publicity. (Conduct the troop resource survey. Plan for family night programs and family activities. At each meeting, report the minutes of the previous meeting.
Septemberfest Coordinator
Work with our partner, Lou Malnoti’s to run the food booth at Septemberfest, coordinate scout/parent time slots, file necessary paperwork with BSA and Schaumburg, attend Septemberfest meetings as necessary, collect all monies and provide to Treasurer.
Service Hours Coordinator
Log scouts’ and adult leaders’ service hours, provide service hour data as necessary.
Training Coordinator

(including Den Chief Coordination)

Coordinate adult and scout training, may include running training classes. Encourage scouts to become den chiefs, schedule den chief training as needed.
Treasurer Handle the accounts for the Troop, collect and distribute funds as necessary. Provide financial records as requested hold an annual budget meeting; perform an annual audit of accounts with other Committee members. Handle all troop funds. Pay bills on recommendation of the Scoutmaster and authorization of the troop committee. Maintain checking and savings accounts. Train and supervise the troop scribe in record keeping. Keep adequate records in the Troop/Team Record Book. Work with the Fund Raising Chair to supervise money-earning projects, including obtaining proper authorizations. Supervise the camp savings plan and scout accounts. Lead in the preparation of the annual troop budget. Lead the Friends of Scouting campaign. Report to the troop committee at each meeting.
